DescriptionLocationCancellation Policy Join CAAR for our Equity in Motion - A Fair Housing Symposium, proudly hosted by the DEI Committee — a meaningful and energizing gathering centered on equity, awareness, and forward progress in housing. This year’s symposium invites you into a space of connection and community as we engage in important conversations about the barriers that continue to impact housing access for the Black community/African American community. Together, we’ll explore how systemic challenges show up in lending, appraisal practices, land use policy, and neighborhood investment — and what we can do about it. While the heart of the event is education and dialogue, we’ll also celebrate the richness of our Black community/ African American community with traditional food, refreshing drinks, and a little line dancing to bring us together in joy. Come ready to learn, reflect, connect, and leave inspired to be part of meaningful change. Featured Speakers: - Jada Howard – Community Engagement Coordinator, Piedmont Community Land Trust - Joy Johnson – Vice President, Legal Aid Justice Center; President’s Council on UVA‑Community Partnerships; Council Member, Piedmont Housing Alliance - Tasia White - Director of Program Management & Strategic Initiatives, Piedmont Housing Alliance - Jordy Yager, Director of Digital Humanities, Jefferson School African American Heritage Center This event received a $2,500 Virginia REALTORS® Community Engagement Grant.
